A helicopter crashed into a residential area in Pangasinan on Friday morning, June 10; hurting the pilot and his passenger.
According to the initial investigation by the local police, the helicopter, a two-seater Sikorsky chopper with tail number RP-C337, came from the Masters Flying School in Plaridel, Bulacan and was seen heading to a northern direction at around 9 a.m.
As noted in an article published by Infinity Trimedia, witnesses said the helicopter was seen circling above the area when it suddenly plummeted into a vacant lot at the Caris Ville Subdivision, Barangay Canarvacanan in Binalonan town.
The roof of a nearby house, owned by a certain Cristobal Tomeldan, was damaged after it was struck by the chopper’s rotor. Fortunately, no one in Tomeldan’s house was hurt.
Engine failure was seen as the cause of the crash, the police said. The chopper’s pilot Louie Ibarrra and his passenger flying master Captain Dante delos Rinos were rushed to the Urdaneta Sacred Heart Hospital by the witnesses who responded to help the victims. The two sustained head injuries and bruises on different parts of their bodies.
Police Officer 1 Roberto L. Odullo Jr. said Ibarra and Delos Rinos are in stable condition as of Friday evening.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is investigating the crash.
