KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – A video, showing the chilling moment a man who was said to be “possessed by a demon” shaking violently in a shop before the reflection of a ghostly figure appears in a fridge door, reemerged online and once again caught the attention of online users.
The video, which was posted by makaveli ilevakam on September 10, 2012, and had been viewed more than 8.2 million times, was reportedly recorded by a CCTV in a supermarket in Malaysia.
The video shows a man who resembles any other shopper, reaching into a fridge and taking out a cold drink.
When all of a sudden, the man turn rigid and begins shaking violently while still gripping the door handle, then drops the drink he was planning to buy on the floor.
While the man’s hands are by his side, his body jerks vigorously; leaving him grunting and yelping. He then suddenly starts pulling at his T-shirt and shaking his head.
A few seconds later, the man drops to his knees, still pulling at his T-shirt. Afterwards, one of the staff was seen on the video the exact time the man raises a hand and points towards a stack of toilet rolls.
The toilet rolls then mysteriously fall from the shelves, flipping as if somebody knocked them over.
An article by Jon Livesey for The Mirror published on May 5 said that a reflection of a ghostly figure is seen drifting in the fridge door, despite there not being anyone else in front of it.
The online community was divided on the video; some believing it was an authentic demon possession while others claiming it is fake.
YouTube user xD’ Boy pointed out a ghost on the fridge, saying, “Who notice a white lady in the glass before the man was possessed?”
“Forget looking at the glass door at the end of the video, look at the glass door at 0:09. You can watch it enter him and disappear. Though, why the ghost is only visible by looking at it in the glass door instead of seeing it directly on the camera, no idea,” explained by YouTube user B. Wright.
Meanwhile, there are those who see the video as fake like YouTube user S. Close who said, “I agree this is fake. So if you watch his hand as the toilet paper falls, you can see that it’s time with him pulling it. Does the time get paused because somebody edited the reflection in?”
Some viewers pointed out that what happened to the man was not a demon possession but rather a medical condition.
“Had a seizure once and seen something I couldn’t explain before I passed out only to later wake up in the ambulance not knowing what happened,” said YouTube user A. Tamayo.
