A Filipino-American mother was among the casualties in the March 22 terror attack in an airport in Brussels, Belgium.
41-year-old Gail Minglana Martinez succumbed to her injuries, while her husband, Lt. Col. Kato Martinez, an officer in the United States Air Force, and their four children remain in a hospital in Brussels.
The Pacific Daily News shared in an article published on April 1, 2016 that friends of the Martinez family said the four children, who suffered burns in the deadly attack, are recuperating while their father is still in the intensive care unit.
Gail’s parents, who live in Corpus Christi, Texas received an outpouring of support following news of their daughter’s passing.
Texas Representative Blake Farenthold who confirmed Gail’s death offered his condolences to the family through an official statement.
“My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the family of Mrs. Martinez, whose life was tragically cut short by the ISIS terror attack in Brussels. I ask that everyone offer their prayers and support to the Martinez family as they work through the pain and suffering that this horrific event has caused, and respect their privacy at this time,” Rep. Farenthold said.
Gail’s father is a retired U.S. Navy sailor who is an immigrant from the Philippines.
Her relatives are praying for the full recovery of her husband so he could bring their children and Gail’s body back to the U.S.
