• A video surfaces on the internet that shows a man urinating on a production line of a cereals factory
• It was determined that the incident happened at Kellogg’s factory in Memphis, Tennessee
• The video was recorded in 2014 during a nasty labor dispute between Kellogg’s and the company’s workers union
A graphic video surfaced on the internet on Friday, March 11, which showed a worker urinating on the food production line at a Kellogg’s factory.
The Sydney Morning Herald said the 43-second video was uploaded on World Star Hip Hip; a website that features a huge number of viral videos.
The Kellogg Company was shocked and deeply disappointed by the video, the company spokesman Kris Charles said; adding, Kellogg’s is taking the situation very seriously.
“It is important to note that any products that could be potentially impacted would be very limited and past their expiration dates.
These potentially impacted products include Rice Krispies Treats, granola clusters used in a couple of products, and a few other puffed rice treats that we no longer make,” Kris Charles said.
Kellogg’s has alerted the law enforcement authorities and regulators after learning about the video. Miss Charles said that aside from an internal investigation being conducted by the company, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Criminal Investigation has also launched a criminal investigation.
The company’s own investigation determined that the incident happened at its Memphis, Tennessee factory and that the video was recorded in 2014; during a labor dispute between Kellogg’s and the company’s workers union.
“Our investigation revealed that the video was recorded at our Memphis, Tennessee facility, in 2014. Products that could have been potentially affected were Rice Krispies Treats, Rice Krispies Treats cereal and puffed rice cake products, all of which would be past expiration date. Food quality is of the utmost importance to Kellogg Company. We are outraged by this completely unacceptable situation, and we will work closely with authorities to prosecute to the full extent of the law,” the Kellogg Company said in a statement.
The company is still working to determine the identity of the worker in the video. (WARNING: the video’s contents are very graphic)
