- Supporters offended by Vice Ganda’s remarks against the boxer strike back at the comedian
- They remind him he also once made a terrible statement against women
- They also compare his reaction to Soho’s, say she was more cool-mannered and professional
MANILA, Philippines – Skeletons in the closet?
Reacting to Vice Ganda’s withering criticism of Manny Pacquiao on his Twitter over the latter’s no-holds-barred comment on same-sex marriage, the boxer’s supporters reminded the comedian of his own indiscretions by bringing up his infamous rape joke of respected journalist Jessica Soho.
Posts on social media, such as this one by a certain Albert Millo on Facebook, defended Pacquiao for expressing his belief and saying the truth while twitting Vice for his irreverent lifestyle.
“This man gives so much honor to our country and the LGBT community is mocking him about his remarks in a certain issue. He might be wrong on the way he delivered his message but we cannot change what the word of GOD says about homosexuality and I am so offended by Vice Ganda’s remarks on Pacquiao,” Millo’s post read. “This comedian became famous by making fun of other people and saying a lot of curse words when he delivers a joke while Manny gave his life for the pride of the Filipino people and we considered him as a hero in our nation! We stand with what God says in his Word.”
Aside from bringing up his rape joke, the post also compared Soho’s reaction to Vice’s statement with his own reaction over Pacquiao’s remarks.
“According to Jean Rosseau: I remember Vice gave a terrible joke in his concert by likening Jessica Soho to a pig (which is an animal, of course). And then days later, he apologized for his joke. Manny said something which was clearly wrong by likening homos to be worse than animals. Now that Manny apologized, will Vice also forgive Manny? Note there was a difference in the way they reacted. Jessica, along with over-sized people were offended but Jessica reacted professionally by just releasing an official statement. While Vice over-reacted by getting the sympathy of people. Let us see how the story will unfold in the coming days,” the post read.
Aside from the post, supporters have also brought up Vice’s past mockery of Pacquiao and his mother Dionisia and pointed to the irony of him not being able to handle criticism he himself dishes out on a regular basis.
