CHINA – A video showing a toddler using a long pipe to defend his grandmother from authorities is warming the hearts of the online community.
Surabhi Sinha mentioned in her article for Story Pick published on April 15 that the video of the toddler had gone viral first in China; where online users called the toddler as a young warrior defending his grandmother from chengguan.
Chengguan, or the urban management force installed in Chinese cities, are tasked to do jobs which ranges from clamping down on illegal street vendors to enforcing rules on city sanitation, landscaping, and parking.
“Don’t touch my grandma! Go away, don’t touch my grandma!” the toddler screams out while wielding a long pipe; estimated to be twice his size.
The toddler, believed to be around 3 years old, stares menacingly at officials after he throws the pipe to the ground. He was then escorted away, but he still seems not happy with all that happened.
The entire video footage was decorated with the laughter of bystanders. It was not specified when and where in China the footage was filmed though.
An article by Lee Moran for the Huffington Post published on April 15 said that the unidentified toddler’s extreme reaction was provoked by city employees who were trying to remove his grandma’s street stall.
It was not revealed what happened to the little boy or to his grandmother’s business, but online users cannot help but admire the toddler’s dedication on protecting his grandma.
YouTube user elfishimp said, “Amazing baby! He’s a Chinese Superman defending the powerless!”
Another YouTube user A. Alam said, “I hope his grandma is not in trouble because of this, the kid is really cute, though.”
The Chinese outlet People’s Daily posted the video to YouTube and also on Facebook on Thursday.
